Motorcyclist's one-in-a-million escape from death after heart-stopping footage emerges of serious crash on Sydney's M5 Motorway

Shocking footage has captured the moment a motorcyclist landed on top of a car after crashing into the back of the vehicle on a busy motorway.

The collision happened on a stretch of the M5 Motorway, in Sydney 's south, at 6.40pm on October 8.

Confronting dashcam footage from another car showed the motorcyclist travelling on the far-right lane of the four-lane highway.

The motorbike rider narrowly avoided colliding into a grey vehicle that had been attempting to merge into their lane.

The motorcyclist then crashed into the back of a black Holden Commodore before they flipped over and landed on top of the vehicle.

The crash brought traffic to a standstill as motorists swerved out of the way to avoid hitting the motorcycle as parts of the bike came flying off.

The driver of the Holden pulled over onto the side of the road with the motorcyclist still on top before the rider managed to get off the car.

The rider slumped to the ground and appeared to be injured as the driver of the Holden got out and began to check on their welfare.

Another motorcyclist and several drivers also pulled over to assist the rider.

The video was later uploaded to Facebook and has been viewed thousands of times by social media users.

The latest incident comes several months after a SUV rolled down the motorway after another motorist collided with the vehicle while trying to overtake it.

Dashcam from another car showed a silver Holden Commodore zipping down the far left lane after it squeezed between two cars.

The back of the Holden clipped the front of the SUV as the driver attempted to merge.

The impact forced the SUV to flip and roll several times along the motorway.

The driver of the Holden lost control of the vehicle before the car careened into the barrier as traffic was brought to a standstill.
