Mt. Juliet police make five arrests in three hour period
Nov. 6—Two men were arrested in Mt. Juliet Sunday following a traffic stop, one wanted for serious charges in Nashville.
Authorities say the 40-year-old suspect had active warrants from October for two counts of aggravated sexual battery involving a minor. He was also allegedly in possession of suspected fentanyl.
The passenger in the vehicle was a 60-year-old convicted felon from Murfreesboro, police say, and was allegedly found in possession of four handguns, including a firearm that was previously reported as stolen from Humboldt, Tennessee.
Within the span of three hours, Mt. Juliet reported three other arrests.
"Each incident involved suspects, not from the community, who were traveling through, carrying active warrants or driving a stolen car from incidents that occurred outside of the city," the department stated on social media.
After the city's Mt. Juliet Guardian Shield license plate recognition program flagged a 2016 Toyota that was stolen from Nashville, a male suspect was taken into custody.
Two other men were arrested after a separate traffic stop for the improper display of a temporary tag. Both had what the department referred to as "extensive warrant histories" across state and county lines, including drug and weapons possession charges.
The men were discovered to be in possession of methamphetamine during the stop.
