Multnomah County Commissioners election: What to know

PORTLAND, Ore. () — After the saw four different contests for Multnomah County commissioner seats, half of them were considered so close it warranted a runoff race in November.

That means for the Multnomah County Commissioner District 1 and District 2 primary races, no single candidate was able to make it above 50% of the votes. The top two candidates in each district will now be voted on for the final stretch.

Multnomah County Commissioner District 1

Meghan Moyer , a social services policy expert and board member of Disability Rights Oregon, is seeking the Multnomah County Commissioner District 1 position after gaining the most votes during the May primary.

Her opponent, Vadim Mozyrsky , is a federal administrative law judge and former Portland City Council candidate who did not trail far behind in the primary.

District 1 encompasses all of Northwest and Southwest Portland, as well as some areas of inner East Portland.

Multnomah County Commissioner District 2

Shannon Singleton , a clinically trained social worker with experience in state and county government roles, is vying for the seat of Multnomah County Commissioner District 2, representing North and Northeast Portland.

Her opponent, Sam Adams , is a former Mayor of Portland seeking a place in the political spotlight once again.
