‘My whole life had been pulled from under me’ – Wexford brain injury survivors on the fight for supports and services

There were warning signs, causes for concern, but prior to the moment which changed Tommy Nolan's life forever he had no idea what was about to befall him. Speaking at the launch of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Ireland's 'Fight for our Lives' campaign in Wexford, Tommy recalled the events leading up to that life-altering event 18 months ago.

"Before my stroke my life was pretty normal, I worked in the financial services sector in Dublin, I had long commutes and worked in an office environment so I had little time to exercise and was overweight, I had a bad diet and I was stressed because of the work I was in. The combination of all these factors left me with high blood pressure, which I didn't realise I had – but that was what caused the stroke."
