Sports NASCAR News: Ty Gibbs Lands Huge New Ownership Role For 2025

Ty Gibbs is set to expand his role within the NASCAR world significantly in 2025. Following an announcement from Joe Gibbs Racing, it has been confirmed that Ty Gibbs will become the official team owner of the No. 54 NASCAR Xfinity Series team.

Ty Gibbs had subtly alluded to this new chapter on social media before the official announcement was released to Sports Illustrated's Racing America . On his Instagram Stories, Gibbs shared a video montage of Taylor Gray, the full-time driver for the No. 54 team in 2025. Gibbs captioned the video with statements that highlighted his new dual responsibilities: "First year as 54 owner" and "First year as 54 driver."

Gibbs's journey to this moment has been marked by impressive achievements. He first caught the industry's attention after clinching a championship with Joe Gibbs Racing in the ARCA Menards Series in 2021. Since this victory, Gibbs maintained an active involvement in the series, expanding his skill set and solidifying his commitment to the sport. Although he is taking on more administrative duties with his new ownership role, Gibbs will continue his driving responsibilities within the NASCAR Cup Series.

Throughout his career, Gibbs has demonstrated an ability to dominate on the track. He made headlines with his impressive performance in the NASCAR Xfinity Series between 2021 and 2022, where he earned 11 wins, including the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in 2022, with a decisive victory at Phoenix Raceway.

The No. 54 Xfinity Series entry, which he will now helm as owner, will feature Taylor Gray as the primary driver starting in 2025.

Joe Gibbs Racing maintains its status as the most successful team in NASCAR Xfinity Series history in terms of wins, celebrating a legacy with 214 race victories to date.
