Nathan Cleary could make stunning gesture for Mary Fowler that would rock the footy world

Nathan Cleary is reportedly interested in a move to the UK Super League in order to be closer to his partner, Mary Fowler .

In a move that would send shockwaves through the NRL , News Corp reports that the 'crazy' rumour is currently doing the rounds in footy circles, with Cleary and Fowler's relationship going from strength to strength.

As first exclusively revealed by Daily Mail Australia, the Penrith star and the Matildas striker have been dating since November last year, and have sought to spend as much time as possible with one another, when their calendars allow.

Fowler is based in the UK with club side Manchester City while Cleary is based in Sydney , meaning the pair are afforded limited opportunities to see one another.

City star Fowler, 21, recently spent some time back home in Australia during the football off season and was spotted with Cleary, 26, on numerous occasions.

But Cleary reportedly wants to spend more time with his girlfriend and is considering taking a year out of the NRL to play in the Super League.

However, News Corp reports that such an eventuality seems unlikely, with Panthers boss Brian Fletcher and Cleary's manager George Mimis stressing that the idea has never been brought up with them.

The latest rumour comes after Cleary's Panthers teammate Brian To'o teased that the pair are now 'engaged' during a cheeky post-match interview earlier this month.

To'o was questioned by Fox Sports about why Panthers fans were cheering so loud after the Panthers 18-12 victory over the Titans.

Cleary, who has been recovering from an injury, was in attendance and host Yvonne Sampson wondered if the superstar halfback had set the crowd off.

To'o joked that fans were cheering for Cleary and girlfriend Fowler, who are now 'engaged'.

'They are just chilling on the side everyone is going crazy. They are pretty much here for Nathan and Mary so congrats to them, I think they got engaged.

'Congrats to them.'
