Mater Dei (Calif.)It's been business as usual for Mater Dei in 2024. The Monarchs cruised to a 9-0 record in the regular season, beating up on a stout schedule that featured the likes of Bishop Gorman (Nev.), St. Frances Academy (Md.) and St. John Bosco (Calif.). They'll now look for their third state title in four years behind a roster that features over 15 ranked prospects. Mater Dei begins its playoff run against Sierra Canyon this week.
(Texas)Behind the explosive five-star combination of quarterback Keelon Russell and wide receiver Dakorien Moore , Duncanville went 10-0 in the regular season, averaging over 44 points per game. The Panthers own a pair of big wins over St. Frances Academy (Md.) and DeSoto (Texas). They've checked in as the top team in Texas all year and are now gunning for their third consecutive 6A state title. The playoff run begins on Friday night against .
Bishop Gorman (Nev.)The lone blemish on Bishop Gorman's 2024 résumé is an early-season loss to top-ranked Mater Dei. Otherwise, the Gaels have once again been dominant, picking up wins over the likes of St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) and Orange Lutheran (Calif.) while also continuing to bully their competition in Nevada. They'll look for their fourth consecutive 5A state title this month, needing to win just two games to do so. First up is a semifinal matchup against this Friday.
North Shore (Texas)North Shore has boasted one of the nation's top defenses this season and also enters postseason play undefeated at 10-0. The Mustangs, led by the nation's top-ranked cornerback Devin Sanchez , have held opposing offenses to an average of 9 points per game. They picked up a pair of quality wins down the stretch this fall, defeating nationally-ranked in-state Atascocita and Summer Creek in the span of three weeks. North Shore will face Deer Park in the first round of the playoffs this week as it looks for its first 6A state title since 2021.
St. John Bosco (Calif.)St. John Bosco has established itself as the clear No. 2 team in the Golden State this season and will enter the playoffs with a 9-1 record. The Braves dealt with a change at quarterback late in the season and have only lost to No. 1 Mater Dei thus far. While very young, Bosco still possesses a roster loaded with college prospects. Chasing their third CIF state championship since 2019, the Braves will take on Santa Margarita Catholic — which they defeated 13-0 to begin the season — this week to begin their postseason run.
(Ga.)Milton possesses a prospect-heavy offense, led by quarterback Luke Nickel , wide receiver CJ Wiley and the tight end duo of Ethan Barbour Ryan Ghea . The Eagles scored 35-plus points in eight of their 10 regular-season victories and are still yet to lose as they chase a 5A state championship. Milton owns four wins over top-25 programs in the Peach State and will begin their postseason quest this week against .
(Ga.)One of the favorites to win the Georgia 6A state title, Carrollton is 10-0 and has cemented itself as one of the nation's top teams this season. Star quarterback Julian Lewis is poised to finish his high school career with hardware and he has the Trojans' offense humming. They've averaged over 52 points across their last eight regular season games and will look to keep things pushing in the postseason, beginning with a matchup against this week.
Mission Viejo (Calif.)Mission Viejo has maneuvered through a tough 2024 schedule and is also entering the playoffs with a 10-0 mark. The Diablos have defeated three ranked in-state programs this season, though their toughest test thus far awaits in the next round of the playoffs, as Corona Centennial and five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet await this week in a huge clash between two of California's best. Viejo is led by elite cornerback Dijon Lee and junior quarterback Luke Fahey .
North Crowley (Texas)Another top contender amidst the 6A powers in Texas, North Crowley is 10-0 with its marquee victory being a 57-51 victory over DeSoto in early September. That win — which was viewed as a big upset at the time — set the tone for the Panthers, who have since rolled through their schedule. The North Crowley offense has eclipsed 50 points eight times this season. It begins its playoff run this week against Byron Nelson , a top-30 team in the state.
Bergen Catholic (N.J.)Bergen has reigned atop New Jersey for multiple years and is now looking for its fourth consecutive NJ non-public state title. The Crusaders, led by elite wide receiver Quincy Porter , are 8-1 with their lone loss coming against IMG Academy. They've beat up on local competition and will be tough to remove from the throne once again this month. Bergen's last win in the regular season came against Seton Hall Prep — which they'll take on again this week to begin postseason action.
Archbishop Spalding (Md.)Archbishop Spalding is once again one of the best in the DMV this season. The Cavaliers are one win away from another Class A state title and a perfect 12-0 2024 campaign. Leading the charge for Spalding is four-star quarterback Malik Washington , though the defense has been the story, as it has compiled eight shutouts this year.
(Ga.)After losing its opening game of the season to top-10 Milton, Buford proceeded to rattle off nine wins in a row and is now well-positioned to make some noise in the Georgia 6A playoffs. The Wolves also feature a slew of ranked prospects and have an elite defense. Their postseason run begins on Friday night against East Coweta .
Corner Canyon (Utah)Corner Canyon made some noise at the beginning of the season by knocking off IMG Academy. The Chargers, spearheaded by junior four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga , finished the regular season with a 9-1 record and have already picked up a pair of playoff victories, too. They'll now take on Lehi in the 6A state semifinals this week as they look to bring another trophy to Draper.
Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fla.)The state of Florida hasn't provided its usual oomph to the high school football landscape this season, but Chaminade-Madonna is still one of the top programs in the nation. The Lions sit at 8-2 and are looking for another 1A state championship. Led by top juniors in running back Derrek Cooper and wide receiver Jabari Brady , Chaminade will take on Boca Raton Saint John Paul II in the playoffs this week.
One of the few Northern California teams ranked among the nation's best, De La Salle is in the midst of an undefeated season as it looks to bring home a CIF-North Coast Section title. The Spartans have been dominant this season, and will look to continue their winning ways against San Marin on Friday night.
(Fla.)Lakeland has found multiple ways to win this season and will enter the 5A state playoffs with a 9-0 record. The Dreadnaughts terrorized opposing offenses, allowing more than two touchdowns in a game just once all campaign. Their top win came at the beginning of the season when they won a 16-8 slog over Miami Central. Lakeland will face Riverview this week to begin the postseason.
East St. Louis (Ill.)East St. Louis is into the quarterfinals of the Illinois 6A state playoffs and remains a heavy favorite to raise a trophy at the end of the season. The Flyers are now 10-1, with their lone defeat also coming at the hands of IMG Academy. The Flyer defense has held opposing offenses to 10 points or less eight times this season. They'll now take on 8-2 this week.
Boyle County (Ky.)The top-ranked team in the Bluegrass is set to defend its 4A state title. Boyle County is 11-0 and has defeated four top-30 teams in Kentucky this year. The Rebels out of Danville have allowed just 37 points in their last seven games. Round two action against Letcher County Central is up next this week.
St. Frances Academy (Md.)Baltimore St. Frances Academy has once again traveled around the nation to play a schedule chock-full of powerhouse programs. The Panthers are 7-3, with their losses coming against the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation, as well Orange Lutheran (Calif.). They've won five games in a row down the stretch, with their most recent being an emphatic 30-3 victory at IMG Academy (Fla.). They'll round things out with a local showdown against Mt. Zion Prep on Friday.
IMG Academy (Fla.)IMG Academy doesn't have postseason play ahead, but the 7-2 Ascenders are once again battle-tested thanks to an exhausting schedule that featured wins over Bergen Catholic (N.J.), Cocoa (Fla.), Venice (Fla.) and East St. Louis (Ill.). Four-star quarterback Ty Hawkins captained an offense that faltered at times but found a groove in the middle of the fall.
