CLEVELAND, Ohio – Seven child-care and learning centers in the state – including six in Northeast Ohio – have been added to a list of places affected by a USDA recall of products suspected of listeria contamination.

The list includes about 200 preschool and child-care centers in the country.

The ready-to-eat meat and poultry products have been recalled because of possible contamination with the foodborne bacterial illness, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Northeast Ohio places on the list • Apples of Gold Enrichment Center, 4215 Bluestone Road, South Euclid.

• Mini Miracles & Beyond Learning Academy, 4674 Ridge Road, Brooklyn.

• Mini Miracles Learning Academy, 22620 Shore Center Dr., Euclid.

• Mini Miracles Wonderland, 567 E. 200th St., Euclid.

• Small Hands Big Dreams, 4898 Center Road, Brunswick.

• Truly Gifted Kids Academy, 5656 Broadway Ave., Cleveland.

Little Steps Big Steps Daycare Center of Groveport also was included.

The products that went to these places were not part of USDA's National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. Schools and other institutions also purchase food directly from other vendors.

BrucePac of Durant, Oklahoma, produced the items from June 19 to Oct. 8. The products were shipped nationwide for distribution to restaurants and institutions. Products subject to recall bear establishment numbers 51205 or P-51205 inside or under the USDA inspection mark.

The list of items recently was expanded and now totals more than 11,765,000 pounds distributed to more than three dozen retail outlets, including several in Northeast Ohio.
