LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Employees have been laid off at two Las Vegas Strip properties.

The Venetian and Palazzo are parting ways with "less than 50 employees" according to a statement released by the resorts. The two properties employ more than 8,500 employees.

Many people who were let go occupied top-level positions.

"As part of our commitment to delivering exceptional service and remaining agile in a rapidly evolving industry, we have made the decision to streamline our organizational structure. By reducing layers within our leadership, we can act more swiftly, make decisions more efficiently, and ensure a closer connection between our frontline teams and senior leaders," the statement said in part.

The resort says the decision was made with thoughtful consideration as they look to position the company for "continued growth and success."
