Fans call out Teddi Mellencamp's telling Halloween look after shock affair with married man with pregnant wife

Teddi Mellencamp dressed up as a toad for Halloween - which seemingly referenced to her married horse trainer, Simon Schroeder, whom she allegedly had a months-long affair with.

It was claimed on Wednesday that the TV personality, 43, allegedly cheated on her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave with Schroeder before the former couple announced their divorce earlier this month.

Simon had been training the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills alum's horse named Totally - who is also nicknamed 'Toad.'

In an Instagram post uploaded late last month on Halloween, Teddi struck a pose for a mirror selfie as she donned a toad costume.

Mellencamp additionally shared photos of her three children: son Cruz, 10, and daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, four - whom she shares with Arroyave.

In the caption, she had penned, 'A toad, a pumpkin, Ariel, and... a zombie footballer?! This definitely ain't Disney! What are you naming this Halloween motley crew?'

The carousel of snaps came only two days before she announced that she and Edwin had split after 13 years of marriage.

Upon tying the knot with Arroyave, Teddi - who has been open about her battle with skin cancer - also became stepmother to Edwin's daughter, Isabella, 15, from a previous relationship.

On November 2, she took to her main Instagram page and penned to her fans and followers, 'After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce.'

'My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.'

Teddi added, 'Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.'

Just one week before the divorce announcement, Edwin posted a heartfelt tribute to Teddi after they attended the Cure Melanoma gala together.

On November 1, Mellencamp officially filed for divorce and cited the date of separation as October 20. She also requested for primary legal and physical custody of their children.

Edwin also filed for divorce and on his end, listed the date of separation as November 1, and asked for joint legal and physical custody of their kids.

And on Wednesday, a source told DailyMail.com that Teddi's months-long affair with Simon had been a reason for her split from Arroyave.

Mellencamp and Schroeder's cheating scandal took place behind their spouse's backs.

The horse trainer is married to Karli Postel and the pair also share two children. While Karli was in labor with her second child in California, Simon had been in Florida with Teddi.

'Karli thought it was suspicious that her husband was in Florida when she was giving birth,' the insider stated.

'When Simon returned, Karli found text messages on Simon's phone that exposed the affair. She confronted Simon and Teddi about it and they confessed. Teddi promised it would not happen again.'

The source added, 'Karli didn't tell Edwin when she found out. She was willing to give Simon another chance and stayed with him. But last month, Karli found proof that the affair was ongoing and that it had become "emotional."'

'Simon had a history of cheating and Karli was tired of being connected to him. Edwin only learned of the affair late last month when Karli told him.'

The insider then stated that Teddi, 'filed for divorce from Edwin so that he did not have the chance to file and get her for adultery.'

'It has been alleged that the marriage ended because Edwin cheated on Teddi, but it is actually the other way around.'

Karli has previously given a shout out to her husband and Teddi on her Instagram page.

Back in May, she shared her excitement over Toad's success at a horse show and penned, 'So beyond proud of Simon's hard work with Teddi Mellencamp's Totally!'

'Beautiful consistent rounds at the Devon Horseshow in the High Performance... a huge feat from where Simon & Toad's journey began. Can't wait to watch Teddi take on the weekend.'

The reality star had liked Karli's post and also follows her on Instagram. However, Postel currently does not follow Mellencamp.

Later on Wednesday, the Real Housewives alum broke her silence after news of the alleged cheating scandal came to light.

Along with a glammed up selfie, she added a cryptic caption which read, 'When you're being pushed into the shadows always find your light.'

And on her Instagram stories, she also posted a quote from Bruce Lee which read: 'Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.'

Earlier on Tuesday, Teddi was spotted outside of the Los Angeles home she shares with Edwin - and was joined by her estranged husband.

While standing near the curb of a sidewalk with luggage by her side, Arroyave was seen pulling her into an embrace and planted a kiss on top of her head.

He also helped load the suitcases into an awaiting vehicle that had approached the home.

Last week, a source told Us Weekly that Teddi and Edwin had been in couples therapy 'for years' before announcing their separation.

'It was a long time coming and they have been up and down for the last seven-plus years,' the insider stated.

'This isn't the first time Teddi has wanted a divorce, and it has been an ongoing conversation between them for years.'

The source further added that they had been attempting to 'make it work' by being in 'therapy over the years.'

'They have had some really high highs and low lows over the course of their marriage. They have agreed they are better as co-parents and can be amicable moving forward.'
