'Reported victim' of Madisonville mass shooting arrested on gun charges, police say

Nearly five months after a mass shooting in Madisonville left five people wounded , Cincinnati police have made an arrest, although it appears the suspect, or suspects, are still at large.

The shooting investigation led police on Monday to charge 28-year-old Myron Nichols, of Blue Ash, on numerous counts including weapons-related offenses, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

While officials said they recovered weapons including an AR-style rifle and several handguns, court records show Nichols has not been accused of participating in the June 15 shooting.

A complaint filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court says Nichols was a "reported victim" of the mass shooting at Bramble Park, however, police uncovered surveillance video showing Nichols flee the scene with a gun in hand.

Court records show Nichols has previous felony convictions for drug trafficking and burglary and is not legally allowed to own a firearm.

Four people sustained injuries not considered life-threatening while another suffered critical injuries in the shooting, which happened during a community gathering at Bramble Park .

When officers confronted Nichols on Sunday, he had a Glock handgun concealed in his jacket pocket, according to court filings.

Separate criminal complaints say he was also seen operating a stolen vehicle and tried to run from police after being given multiple warnings to stop.

Nichols' attorney did not immediately respond to a message from The Enquirer seeking comment.

Jail records show Nichols is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center pending trial. A grand jury is expected to hear Nichols' cases by Nov. 22.
