Deadlines are fast approaching for Nebraskans to register to vote in the 2024 election.

The deadline to register online is Friday, Oct. 18, before midnight.

Friday is also the deadline for mailed registrations to be postmarked; for voters to register at DMV offices, state agencies or Omaha Public Library locations.

And Friday is the last day that voter registration forms can be delivered to the election office by someone other than the person registering.

Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse blasted out a reminder to voters of the upcoming deadlines.

Friday is the last day to register to vote in Nebraska by any other method than people going to their county election offices in person.

"If voters miss this deadline, they can still register in person at our office until 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25," Kruse said.

The Douglas County Election Commission office is at 12220 West Center Road in Omaha.

The Sarpy County Election Commission office is at 1102 E. First St., Suite 1, in Papillion.

In many Nebraska counties, the county clerk's office is the election office.

In Douglas County, voters may confirm their polling places and political districts and view their sample ballots by visiting the Election Commission website and entering their house number and ZIP code in the gray "Find your voting information" field, or by calling 402-444-8683 during business hours.

The voter rolls continue to grow in Omaha. By late afternoon Wednesday, 365,755 people were registered to vote in Douglas County. Of those, 134,188 registered as Democrats, while 129,702 registered as Republicans. Another 92,191 registered as nonpartisans. And there were 5,599 Libertarians, 3,480 Legal Marijuana NOW and 615 No Labels Nebraska.
