Neighborhood Dumpster Day happening this weekend in Las Cruces

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – The Parks and Recreation Department's Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB) program will host a Neighborhood Dumpster Day this weekend.

KLCB will provide open-top trash containers for the community to dump yard waste, household trash and other permittable items for free from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 16. at the following locations:

  • East Mesa Recreation Center – 5589 Porter Dr.
  • Young Park – 850 S. Walnut St.
  • Near the intersection of Motel Boulevard/Westway Avenue – 674 N. Motel Blvd.
  • KLCB staff will also be available to provide support, program information and guide users regarding the items requested to be tossed into the containers, according to the City of Las Cruces.

    Items NOT allowed in a solid waste container are:

  • No medical waste (per section 20.9.8.8 NMAC of the New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations)
  • Hot ashes/coals
  • Tires or any vehicle parts (including car batteries)
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Large yard waste items (stumps or trunks)
  • Concrete, bricks, and or rocks
  • Toxic, combustible, or hazardous materials
  • Toilets/sinks
  • Refrigerators (anything with refrigerant)
  • Animal carcasses
  • The City of Las Cruces said locations of open-top containers will be monitored, and residents must unload their items.
