New Haven police and other departments team up for auto theft task force
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police departments across New Haven County are teaming up with Connecticut state police to crack down on car theft.
They're announcing a regional auto theft task force. The New Haven police chief says the new task force will protect your property.
On Friday, the New Haven mayor, Police Chief Karl Jacobson with mayors and local chiefs from several other departments for the announcement on the auto theft task force.

Police say groups of young adults known as the "Kia Boys" are targeting vehicles in New Haven County and across the state.
They say they're also recklessly driving those vehicles down Connecticut roadways, a significant safety risk to residents, drivers, and properties.
The task force will involve leaders from several municipalities in New Haven County, including Ansonia, Naugatuck, and Orange. Connecticut state police will also support the operation.
The task force plans to participate in regular meetings, share information and intelligence, coordinate joint operations to enforce related local and state laws and work together to identify and apprehend those found responsible.
The task force also plans to connect juveniles involved to services they hope will prevent them from getting involved in these illegal activities.
The announcement will be taking place here at police HQ at 11 a.m.
