New housing development approach turns heads in Olney
OLNEY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A new housing development in Olney is turning heads with its innovative approach to sustainable living and adaptable home design.
These homes aren't just about style; they're also built with energy-efficient, preventative, and durable materials.
New additions coming to Veterans Memorial Plaza
With steel frame construction and walls made with weather, bullet, and fire-resistant foam insulation, these homes are built for safety and sustainability.
This development aims to provide affordable homes to a city that is trying to increase its population.
Project leader Lance Groves explained that the energy-efficient materials help homeowners save significantly on utility bills.
The HWS panel is a revolutionary foam board that not only provides protection but is also designed to keep temperatures stable, resisting Texas heat. This feature, combined with steel framing, gives these homes a level of resilience that's difficult to match.
Beyond energy efficiency and safety, Lance Groves said flexibility is a key attribute in this development because of how the steel frames are utilized.
"Adding on to this house becomes essentially a modular type of project where you can actually order a kit from us, and we can either assemble it, or you can assemble it on your house to increase the square footage of your home or to add that back patio or that carport," Groves said.
As these innovative homes take shape, builders and local leaders are hopeful that this development will set a new standard for residential construction in Olney and attract more people to the city.
