BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A new initiative starting in Burlington is trying to help the unhoused stay warm. It's called Hoodies for Hope.

Creator Jason Fitzgerald has collected close to 300 hoodies from family, friends and other organizations to give out to unhoused people in the community.

About two hundred people in Burlington have received a hoodie, along with a snack from Dunkin Donuts.

Fitzgerald says with all the unhoused people in Burlington, he wanted to do his part to help.

"It's been pretty amazing actually. I go up and introduce myself, and let them know that I have this amazing community around me that shared these sweatshirts. I let them know that they are seen, and that there are people in this community that want to help them at this time," Fitzgerald said.

Fitzgerald says Dunkin Donuts, Norwich university, and J Morgan's restaurant have all shown an interest in officially joining the imitative.
