New Mexican Restaurant Opening 1st Anne Arundel County Location After 2-Year Wait A Mexican restaurant is opening its first Anne Arundel County location soon. Foodies have waited two years for its award-winning enchiladas.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Urbano Mexican Fare is opening a Tex-Mex restaurant next week in the Annapolis Town Center after a two-year wait.

The grand opening is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Reservations, which are highly encouraged, will be available on opentable.com on Monday.

Urbano hosted a Cinco De Mayo party in 2022, marking the beginning of construction and starting the countdown for foodies. The original target was to open in early 2023, but that was delayed.

"We've been looking forward to this day and are excited to finally open the doors of Urbano Tex-Mex here in Annapolis," Chad Sparrow, managing partner and executive chef, said in a Tuesday press release. "Our team has worked tirelessly to create a space that not only celebrates the diverse and vibrant flavors of Tex-Mex fare but also offers a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can come together to enjoy great food, drinks, and company."

The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will seat up to 150. There's also an outdoor dining patio .

This is Urbano's first Anne Arundel County location and its fourth overall. The others are in Alexandria, Fairfax and Bethesda. A Baltimore location is also opening soon.

The Annapolis restaurant is inspired by San Antonio, the Rio Grande and Mexico City.

Urbano said it will use fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Customers can chow down on award-winning spinach and chicken enchiladas. The sizzling molcajete will feature grilled steak, chicken and shrimp. The coastal fish tacos are another staple.

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Urbano will offer special promotions on the sizzling molcajete and the pumpkin margarita from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

Urbano is located at 1915 Towne Centre Blvd., Suite 150. It's next to P.F. Changs.
