NFL Analyst Reveals Brutal Stat For Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence deserves credit for helping the Jacksonville Jaguars reach back-to-back over .500 showings for the first time in two decade. However, the quarterback's performance this season has left plenty of room for improvement.

At least, that is what one statistic laid out by Pro Football Focus and NFL analyst Brad Gagnon lead one to believe.

Writing for Bleacher Report , Gagnon called the development "quite discouraging." The statistic outlined the three worst bad throw rates by quarterbacks this season. Two of the quarterbacks are rookies while Lawrence sits in close company with 27.1%.

"At least Young is only 23 while Williams is just two starts into his career. There's still hope for all three, but it's a gotta be quite discouraging for the 0-2 Jags that the soon-to-be 25-year-old Lawrence has been this sloppy soon after signing a five-year, $275 million contract," he wrote.

Bad throw rates indicate whether a receiver had to make more than a "normal amount" of effort to catch passes. In other words, it appears to demonstrate whether a receiver had to reach, jump, or dive for the ball outside of their comfort zone. They could have been completions, but it took the receiver more effort than it should have.

Trevor Lawrence's overall statistics demand improvement

According to Pro Football Reference , Lawrence's statistics fall well below the standard set by most of today's top quarterbacks. After two games, the Jaguars quarterback has completed a combined 51% of his passes with one touchdown and zero interceptions. It is far from the worst starting quarterback production this season, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.

At his current pace, Lawrence will wrap up the year with just 15 passing touchdowns. To have any shot at the playoffs, Lawrence will need to throw close to 30 touchdowns.

Put simply, his production needs to trend upward starting this week when the Jacksonville Jaguars battle the Buffalo Bills.

Is this the 2024 version of Trevor Lawrence, or does he have some tricks up his sleeve?
