NFL playoff picture: Falcons still favored in NFC South after loss in Denver

Despite the loss at Mile High, the Atlanta Falcons still hold a heavy edge in the odds to win the NFC South. The sages over at FanDuel Sportsbook currently has Atlanta sitting at -700 to take home the divisional crown, their first since the 2016 season.

The Falcons' offense failed to launch against the Broncos, with quarterback Kirk Cousins turning in one of his worst games in Atlanta. Cousins completed 18 of 27 passes for 173 yards and an interception. Pass protection was abysmal in the loss, with the Falcons' line surrendering four sacks and affording Cousins limited time to get the ball out the entire game.

Atlanta's defense was similarly atrocious. The Falcons allowed 400 yards to the Broncos and were utterly embarrassed on the road. Denver quarterback Bo Nix carved up the Atlanta secondary, tallying 304 passing yards and four touchdowns.

That's two straight losses for Atlanta, and no better time for a bye week to regroup.

Both the Bucs and the Panthers were on their byes this week, while the Saints beat the brakes off of the Browns . The Falcons at 6-5 still hold the lead in the NFC South, with no other teams above .500.
