has improved, so has Jalen Milroe . He’s been the heartbeat of the Crimson Tide offense down the stretch during the regular season — and he has his team competing against for an SEC Championship this weekend to show for it.

Not only will the Crimson Tide be playing for an SEC title, they’re playing for a chance to potentially sneak their way into the College Football Playoff. Before any of that happens, however, Nick Saban took a moment to recognize Milroe’s improvements this season and how important his growth has been to this team.

“Obviously, Jalen has played well for us. He’s got a lot of confidence,” Saban said of his quarterback. “I think he’s got a really good understanding of what his job is, and what his role is. How he’s been able to execute it consistently, whether it’s as a passer or as a runner, whether it’s scrambling or designed run, he’s done a good job, I think, of playing one play at a time and trying to execute that play the way it’s designed so that he distributes the ball in a very efficient, effective manner.

“I think that’s how his growth has sort of occurred and transformed him as a player and really transformed our offense as well because of his growth and execution.”

As a sort of cherry on the top for Milroe’s coming out party that was the 2023 regular season — he saved what will ultimately be his most remembered moment for last.

forced Alabama into a 4th & 31 situation with goal to go — and with all the time in the world to do so, Milroe connected to wideout Isaiah Bond in the back right side of the end zone for the improbable game-winning touchdown completion. The two would ultimately finish the game hooking up five times for 75 yards during the thrilling Iron Bowl victory.

Milroe finishes the regular season with 2,526 passing yards to go with a 21-6 touchdown-interception ratio. His QBR ranks seventh in the nation at 84.4 and has proven to be an effective rusher with 439 yards and 12 additional touchdowns on the ground.

He will look to dazzle fans in front of a national audience this Saturday as the Crimson Tide look to unseat the two-time defending national champions in the Georgia Bulldogs. Kickoff between Alabama and Georgia is set for 4 p.m. ET live on CBS.
