Nicole Kidman goes braless in a revealing gown split to the thigh at the 2024 Governors Ball

Nicole Kidman was the definition of old Hollywood glamour on Sunday when she attended the 2024 Governors Ball in Los Angeles . The Australian actress, 57, looked every inch the timeless beauty as she posed on the red carpet at the event which was held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The event brought Hollywood's best and brightest stars out in jaw-dropping couture, with Nicole leading the best dressed lists alongside Jennifer Lopez and Saoirse Ronan . The Babygirl star wowed in a floor-length black gown that featured an exposed back, an on-trend oval chest cut-out and a gem-encrusted halter neck. Nicole kept her accessories to a minimum for the star-studded event, opting to draw attention to the glittering trim of her dress by wearing just two silver rings and a delicate black-and-silver bracelet with her classic ensemble. She wore her strawberry locks parted in loose, natural waves that flowed over her lithe frame. The Oscar winner also appeared to go braless in the gown in a bold move that showed her experienced hand at lavish A-list events. She also flaunted her slim pins as she posed for red carpet photographers by placing a hand on hip at times to reveal the daring thigh-high split in her gown. The biggest names in Hollywood are campaigning for Oscars, and many of them were on hand to celebrate five film legends at Sunday's 15th Governors Awards. The gala honoured Richard Curtis, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Juliet Taylor and the late Quincy Jones with 2024 honorary Oscars. The glamour and sophistication were dialled up to the max as Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig, Jennifer Lopez, Andrew Garfield, Jennifer Lawrence (and her baby bump), Selena Gomez, Danielle Deadwyler, Kevin Costner, Mikey Madison, Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Sharon Stone stepped out at the event. The Governors Awards recognise extraordinary lifetime achievement in cinema and exceptional contributions to the film industry. Nicole appeared to suffer a minor wardrobe malfunction with her stiletto heels as she approached the stage and laughed it off by removing them as she approached the podium. She applauded enthusiastically after presenting Juliet with her Honorary Award during ceremony held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in LA. The pair then embraced in a warm and heartfelt hug, with Juliet beaming from ear-to-ear in Nicole's arms. The American casting director, who has cast more than 100 films including 43 of Woody Allen's pictures, beamed with pride as she embraced the Australian beauty on stage. Nicole, who has already won the best actress award at Venice Film Festival for her erotic drama Babygirl, was a vision as she posed with Demi Moore on the red carpet. The pair of glamorous film sirens appeared to have coordinated their looks, with Demi donning a slinky strapless black gown and also wearing a large diamond chocker and statement diamond and emerald earrings. In the trend of movie stars using fashion as a vehicle to tease and promote their upcoming flicks, Nicole's showing on the red carpet mirrored the backless black gown she wore to the 4th Annual Academy Museum Gala in October. Nicole's warm embrace of Juliet comes after her interview with Vanity Fair which ruffled feathers last week, as she revealed she's always wanted to work with legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese , 81. She took a very pointed swipe at the Goodfellas auteur, noting his preference for casting male leads. 'I've always said I want to work with Scorsese, if he does a film with women,' she told the outlet. Scorsese often works with male A-listers such as Leonardo DiCaprio , Robert De Niro and Daniel Day-Lewis. Nicole isn't the first lauded actress to point out Scorsese's preference for masculine-heavy films, with Meryl Streep sharing similar sentiments in a 2011 interview. 'I would like Martin Scorsese to be interested in a female character once in a while, but I don't know if I'll live that long,' quipped the three-time Academy Award winner. Countless A-list stars attended the Governers Ball on Sunday, including Pamela Anderson, 57, who was the picture of sophistication in a simple long-sleeve black gown. Elle Fanning, 26, was a vision as she descended upon the red carpet in a mint dress with a dramatic beaded cape featuring a feather trim . Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp, 25, turned heads in a stunning off-shoulder black and white gown, adorned with a delicate pink rose. Julianne Moore, 63, exuded gothic glamour in a dramatic black cape gown, accessorised with chunky black bracelets. American-Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, 30, was the belle of the ball in an off-shoulder baby blue gown with a fringe neckline.
