Nirvana Brings ‘Nevermind’ Back To Multiple Charts
Nirvana only released three traditional albums in their time together, but their legacy is much larger than just a handful of projects. The band popularized grunge and changed the sound of rock music, and they remain legends in their own way.
Nevermind, the group's most successful album, has continued to sell well in the decades since Nirvana broke up following the death of lead singer Kurt Cobain. The studio effort, which comes with its shocking and controversial cover art, remains a must-have for any serious music collector, and that fact has helped it become a bestseller again.
Nirvana's classic album is back on a pair of charts in the United Kingdom this week. Nevermind appears on three rankings across the pond, and it was only present on one of them just a few days ago.
Nevermind manages to re-enter the Official Albums Sales chart at No. 89. It comes in just one slot lower on the Official Physical Albums ranking, which is focused entirely on the top-selling titles on any physical medium in the U.K.
The title is also present on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, which is specific to those styles. Nirvana keeps Nevermind at No. 11 on that list, on which it has already spent more than 1,400 weeks.
Impressively, Nevermind is one of four albums by Nirvana that appear on the U.K. charts this time around. It's the most successful, as it takes up space on three rankings, while their others only land on one or two tallies.
Unplugged in New York is also a comeback win for the band, as it returns to the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart at No. 35. The band triples up on that roster, as In Utero, their final studio project, lifts from No. 37 to No. 31. Their self-titled first effort is also present on both the Official Albums Streaming (No. 71) and the main albums ranking (No. 93).
