America's Largest Documentary Film Festival Returns To NYC Next Week DOC NYC celebrates its 15th anniversary this November, presenting over 200 films in theaters and online.

NEW YORK CITY – DOC NYC, America's largest documentary film festival, marks its 15th anniversary this year with screenings in New York City beginning Nov. 13 and running through Nov. 21.

Known for its Oscar pedigree – 10 of the past 11 Academy Award-winning documentaries and 49 of the last 55 Oscar-nominated features have screened at the festival – DOC NYC will showcase over 200 films beginning next week, including 31 world premieres and 24 U.S. premieres.

Opening the festival on Nov. 13 is "Blue Road - The Edna O'Brien Story," the U.S. premiere of Sinéad O'Shea's film about the celebrated Irish writer.

The lineup also features works by acclaimed filmmakers like Dawn Porter ("The Sing Sing Chronicle"), Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw ("Gaucho Gaucho"), Jon Shenk and Bonni Cohen ("In Waves and War"), and Asif Kapadia ("2073").

A number of films explore war and conflict, from Ukraine to Gaza. Others follow artists like Janis Ian and Art Spiegelman.

Beyond U.S. and international documentaries, categories include the Metropolis Competition, showcasing New York stories; thematic sections focused on music, sports, and activism; and the Kaleidoscope Competition, featuring "essayistic and formally adventurous documentaries," according to a press release.

The festival's centerpiece, Ondi Timoner's "All God's Children," debuts on Nov. 14, and chronicles a Brooklyn rabbi and Baptist pastor striving to find common ground between their respective communities. The world premiere of "Drop Dead City - New York on the Brink in 1975," directed by Peter Yost and Michael Rohatyn, will close in-person screenings on Nov. 21.

As mentioned, more than 200 films will be screened and there's a lot to choose from. Most films will be screened downtown, at Village East, the IFC Center, and the SVA Theatre, with ticket prices for in-person screenings ranging from $13-25 (note that you can also participate online).
