We're closing in on the end of the regular season for Northern New York high school football teams.

There's two weeks left for most teams before the start of the playoffs for area teams. We have another Thursday night matchup to start the weekend off.

Here's a look at the Week Seven schedule for the north country.

Thursday, October 17

Auburn (5-1) at Watertown (3-3), 6 p.m.: The Maroons and Cyclones do battle in a Section 3 Class A National Division game. Auburn downed PSLA at Fowler, 58-12, last week while Watertown is hoping to bounce back from a 64-0 loss to Corcoran.

Friday, October 18

Potsdam (5-0) at Massena (2-4), 6 p.m.: It's an important Section 10 Class B matchup between the Sandstoners and Red Raiders. Potsdam was off last week while Massena topped St. Lawrence Central, 37-12.

Indian River (5-1) at Chittenango (3-3), 6 p.m.: The Wolves head down south to play the Bears in a Section 3 Class B West game. Indian River routed Homer, 52-14, while Syracuse Institute of Technology Central beat Chittenango, 26-14, last time out.

New Hartford (6-0) at Carthage (6-0), 7 p.m.: Our game of the week has the Spartans squaring off with the Comets in a Class B East game. New Hartford blanked Camden, 35-0, while Carthage topped Central Valley Academy, 21-7.

General Brown (6-0) at Canastota (4-2), 7 p.m.: The Lions make the journey to play the Raiders in Class C East play. General Brown stayed unbeaten with a 62-14 drubbing of Holland Patent. Canastota was beaten, 39-7, by Lowville in the last game.

Little Falls (3-3) at Lowville (4-2), 7 p.m.: It's another Class C East game with the Mounties battling the Red Raiders. Little Falls beat Adirondack, 32-22, while Lowville rolled past Canastota.

Beaver River (4-3) at Cato-Meridian (5-1), 7 p.m.: The Beavers and Blue Devils play in a Class D North/West game. Beaver River won via forfeit over Hannibal, but also played Gloversville last weekend. Cato-Meridian thumped Pulaski, 50-6, last weekend.

South Lewis (2-3) at Tupper Lake (4-1), 7 p.m.: The Falcons make the long journey up north to take on the Lumberjacks in 8-Man play. Morrisville-Eaton blanked South Lewis, 58-0, last week while Tupper Lake downed Weedsport, 36-14.

South Jefferson (4-1) at Mount Markham (5-1), 7 p.m.: It's a nonleague contest between the Spartans and Mustangs. South Jeff blew out Oswego, 48-6, while Mount Markham lost. 20-15, to Sandy Creek last weekend.

Gouverneur (3-2) at Malone (1-5), 7 p.m.: It's a Section 10 matchup as the Wildcats make the trip to Franklin County to play the Huskies. Gouverneur is looking to recover from a 50-12 loss to OFA while Canton shutout Malone, 29-0.

Saturday, October 19

Sandy Creek (4-1) at Hannibal (0-5), noon: It's a Class D North/West matchup as the Comets take on the Warriors. Sandy Creek won last week while Hannibal is searching for its first win of the campaign.

OFA (5-1) at Canton (3-3), 1:30 p.m.: It's a Section 10 Class B showdown as the Blue Devils play the Golden Bears. Both OFA and Canton are battling for playoff positioning.
