UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man was apprehended on Tuesday after he threatened a Whitestown Town Court judge in July.

According to an investigation by Oneida County Sheriffs, in July, 40-year-old Jeremy Ibanez of Utica used vulgar language and racial slurs against the sitting judge in the town of Whitestown. Oneida County Sheriffs took a harassment complaint against Ibanez a week later.

The case was subsequently turned over to the Oneida County District Attorney's Office for potential grand jury action. On Wednesday, October 9, the grand jury indicted Ibanez on one count of:

  • Making a Terroristic Threat, a Class D felony.

  • Following the indictment, a warrant was issued for arrest and forwarded to Oneida County Sheriffs.

On Tuesday, Oneida County Sheriffs located Ibanez at the Oneida County Building in Utica and arrested him without further incident. He was subsequently arraigned in Oneida County Court on the Terroristic Threat charge.

Ibanez was remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in Oriskany in lieu of $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 insurance bail bond, and a $100,000 partially secured bond.
