No Questions Asked Community Gun Buyback Event Set For Peekskill The New York AG-sponsored event offers eligible participants up to $500 in pre-paid cards for surrendered firearms.PEEKSKILL, NY — A no questions asked community gun buyback event will be held in Peekskill.
The New York State Attorney General's Office along with the New York State Police, the Peekskill Police Department, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, and the Peekskill NAACP will host the event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 16.
It will be held at the United Methodist Church located at 1040 Main St. in Peekskill.
Past events across the Hudson Valley have been met with remarkable success. The event is part of Attorney General James' stated effort to help protect New York communities from gun violence and to keep families safe.
"The upcoming Peekskill gun buyback event that my office is coordinating with local law enforcement and public officials will enable New Yorkers from throughout the region to turn in their unwanted guns and be a part of the solution against gun violence," James said. "Every gun removed from our streets is a potential life saved and tragedy avoided. My office will continue to work with our partners to combat gun violence in the surrounding communities and across the state."
Eligible participants will be offered up to $500 in pre-paid cards for surrendered firearms with no questions asked.
Guns must be unloaded and placed in a plastic bag, paper bag or box. If transported by car, guns must be unloaded and, in the trunk, placed in a plastic bag, paper bag or box.
Participants will be offered the following amounts for firearms:
If surrendered firearms must be removed from a permit, an ID and a pistol, rifle, or shotgun permit must be presented.
