Nonprofit R.I.S.E raises just under $5,000 during first fundraiser

LOTT, Texas (KBTX) - R.I.S.E, a non-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding the lives of previously incarcerated women, raised just under $5,000 during its first fundraising event Saturday.

It was held at the Just-4-Fun Arcade in Lott, Texas. The family-friendly event featured a silent auction, vendor booths, bounce houses, a live band, a bike show, and of course gave community members a chance to donate.

According to R.I.S.E President Katelyn Smith, the money raised impacts the lives of women in need across the state.

The funds help the organization provide clothing, hygiene products and helps with needs such as building resumes.

Smith said it took two to three months just to get sponsors to put it on, now they are looking at holding a toy drive in November.
