NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) - North Ridgeville police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are cracking down on speeders and reckless driving.

The agencies joined forces earlier in November for a traffic detail, and police said they pulled over more than 30 people.

One of those was a 30-year-old Elyria man now facing felony charges.

According to police, the detail took place over two hours on Nov. 9 in the area of State Route 10.

Officers were looking for speeders in the 65 MPH zone, and they found exactly that.

Thirty drivers received citations for speed, according to police.

Plus, officers say one driver was cited for reckless operation, and another for driving under suspension.

Though, according to police, a motorcyclist clocked going 19 MPH above the speed limit received the most serious charges.

Firas Almukdad allegedly fled from NRPD after an officer attempted to pull him over.

He took off at speeds over 100 MPH, according to police, so the officer did not chase.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol helicopter tracked down the motorcycle, and officers on the ground made the arrest.

Police say Almukdad is charged with speed, reckless operation, and felony failure to comply.

He was locked up in the Lorain County Jail.
