NWS: Showers, slight chance of thunderstorms Wednesday as trough pushes through region
The National Weather Service said showers will increase across the region with a slight chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday as a trough pushes through the region.
NWS Weather Forecast Office Guam issued its latest regional weather outlook on Tuesday.
A ridge of fair weather extends from across the Marianas to Yap and just east of Palau. Elsewhere, weak disturbances/surface troughs are generating clusters of showers and thunderstorms east of the Marianas, northeast of Pohnpei, and near Majuro, NWS said.
Fair weather was expected to persist across the Marianas through Tuesday night with showers increasing starting Wednesday.
Moderate trades will likely become breezier across islands to the north, particularly the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and north of Tinian, mid to late week.
"Expect a showery pattern with a mix of sun and showers to carry through the weekend as another weak disturbance pushes by," NWS said.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center is monitoring a weak disturbance, Invest 91W, centered northeast of Pohnpei. Currently rated as sub-low for development, it is not expected to develop significantly as it tracks westward.
In the longer range, some numerical models indicate the possibility of tropical activity in the region, NWS said.
"We'll be watching numerical forecast guidance and trends closely as things evolve. Tropical cyclone development is not expected through this weekend across the NWS Guam (Area of Responsibility)," NWS said.
