NYC mayor Eric Adams and lover Tracey Collins live in same luxury New Jersey high-rise as the bodybuilder ex he persuaded to move in one floor below

Disgraced New York City mayor Eric Adams moved his bodybuilder ex-girlfriend into a New Jersey apartment just one floor below his current love, DailyMail.com can reveal.

The party-boy mayor – now facing federal indictment on fraud and bribery charges that carry a possible sentence of up to 45 years – told Sylvia Cowan she would get a bigger bang for her buck across the Hudson River than she would at the pad he supposedly gifted her in Brooklyn in 2014.

And Cowan, who competed for top titles in bodybuilding from 1998 to 2010, took his advice and made the move to Fort Lee in 2018.

Now she lives just one floor below Adams's current squeeze Tracey Collins – which could lead to some awkward moments in the doorman-controlled lobby of the 32-story luxury building – or the pool, sauna, gym or movie theater that the building boasts.

A source told DailyMail.com: 'Eric has always had unique relationships with his exes, but moving Sylvia on to the floor below definitely raises some eyebrows.

'They all keep to themselves within the building, but Eric's still close friends with Sylvia.'

Even before his indictment in September, Adams, 64, had come under fire for apparently living in New Jersey while being the Big Apple's top elected official.

He described his situation as 'a whole new way of living' during a 2023 interview but refused to speak on the details of his love life.

He said he stayed at properties he had in the city but admitted he often stayed over at his girlfriend's two-bed 22nd-floor condo.

There he can get 'panoramic amazing NYC views from the George Washington Bridge to Downtown Manhattan from its oversize terrace', according to realtors who sold it to her.

But now it has emerged that Cowan, 67, lives in the same building – on Floor 21.

She bought her one-bedroom apartment which also boasts 'east-facing river and NYC views from every room' for $230,000 in March 2018, public records show.

Adams has been quick to deny living full time in New Jersey despite co-owning the property.

But City Hall documents show that he spends time at the complex regularly to visit his girlfriend, all while retaining a strong bond with his ex.

Adams and Cowan dated for years and bought a one-bedroom apartment in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, in 1988.

Though they still remain close today, their romance fell apart around 2007 when he supposedly transferred his stake in the property to her.

But that apartment too has become an issue for Adams.

During his 2021 campaign for mayor he did not include it on disclosure forms that the state and city require from elected officials. At the time he claimed that was the correct thing to do because he no longer had an interest in it

But it emerged last year that Adams still owns the apartment. He then blamed his former accountant for the error on the forms.

He also owns a multifamily rental property in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Cowan is currently pocketing around $180,000 a year as vice president of growth and community initiatives at Amida, a health insurance company based in New York.

Social media accounts list Cowan as living in Brooklyn – with records showing she and Adams still own their Crown Heights apartment – but she has been seen coming and going from her Fort Lee apartment since purchasing it in 2017.

Cowan remortgaged the property twice according to Bergen County documents, once in 2019 and again in early 2024.

Neither Adams nor Cowan responded to requests for comment by DailyMail.com.

Cowan is not the only close female friend that Adams has kept within his tight circle as he rose up the ranks.

His office previously admitted that he rented a room from NYPD deputy commissioner for employee relations Lisa White between 2013 and 2017.

As a long-time friend of Adams, White was given her role shortly after he took office, at a salary of more than $241,000 a year.

The mayor's office has denied giving his friend any help with her promotions, but confirmed the connection with White extended beyond a mere professional relationship.

City Hall previously characterized it as a friendship that dated back decades and that involved sharing an address for years.

In 2013, as Adams ran for Brooklyn borough president, he changed his voter registration – to declare his residence as the same McKeever Place apartment where White was also registered.

City Board of Election records show Adams maintained that he lived at the McKeever Place unit between June 2013 and March 2017.

His attempts to keep his personal life under wraps have consistently raised eyebrows, with Collins accused of joining Adams on ritzy $45k trips according to the unsealed federal indictment against the mayor.

Collins, 61, a former school teacher, principal and administrator who was promoted after Adams took office, is referred to as Adams's 'domestic partner' in the 57-page court document.

Legal documents filed by an ex-Education Department employee claim that Collins hadn't been seen in person since Thanksgiving 2023, and her work calendar remained empty.

Adams is charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, federal program bribery, and receiving campaign contributions from foreign nationals.

He is also accused of defrauding city taxpayers of $10million through allegedly fraudulent campaign funds.

The mayor pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last week and has claimed he has done nothing wrong.

He was arraigned in Manhattan Federal Court on Friday as the first New York City mayor to be indicted while in office.
