Oklahoma expected to tap Littrell, Finley as co-offensive coordinators: Source
Seth Littrell and Joe Jon Finley are expected to be promoted to co-offensive coordinators for Oklahoma, a team source said. The move, which is expected to be made official Wednesday, comes a few days after former Sooner offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby left Norman to become the head coach at Mississippi State.
The 45-year-old Littrell, a former Sooner fullback, has previously been offensive coordinator at UNC, Arizona and Indiana. In 2015, with Littrell running the offense, the Tar Heels set school records for most points and touchdowns in a season and won the ACC Coastal Division Championship. They made it to the ACC title game for the first time ever. In his 12 games leading the UNC offense, the Tar Heels averaged 41.2 points per game, ranking No. 11 in the country. They also averaged 7.46 yards per play — second-best in the country. Prior to that, Littrell’s offense at Indiana ranked No. 9 in the country in total offense. At Arizona, the Cats offense ranked No. 15 in total offense in 2011.
The 38-year-old Finley has been OU’s tight ends coach since 2021. In 2020, he was the passing game coordinator at Ole Miss , a year in which the Rebels were No. 3 in the country in total offense.
Littrell has worked closely with Sooners run game coordinator Bill Bedenbaugh for two decades, dating back to their time as young assistants on Mike Leach’s staff at Texas Tech and then also at Arizona.
Sooner Scoop first reported the move.
