On3 Massey Ratings Top 25 in Ohio ahead of Round Two Playoff Action
COLUMBUS — Ohio is regarded as one of the gem states when it comes to high school football. The Buckeye State year in and year out produces plenty of college talent from FBS all the way to Division III.
This is the second week of the playoffs and Lettermen Row runs through the On3 Massey Ratings of the top 25 teams in the state of Ohio.
No. 1 Archbishop Moeller (10-1)The No. 1 team in Ohio resides in Cincinnati. Archbishop Moeller rolled through its regular season schedule and the Crusaders now have to roll through their playoff schedule. No. 2 (11-0)Anderson remains undefeated after beating Edgewood last week. The Raptors host Vandalia Butler on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division II State Tournament.
No. 3 Akron Archbishop Hoban (9-2)Akron Hoban extended its winning streak to four games last week with a win over Akron Firestone. The Knights host Uniontown Lake on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division II State Tournament as they look to get back to the state title and finally win it.
No. 4 Walsh Jesuit (11-0)Walsh Jesuit remained undefeated with a shutout win over Willoughby South last week. The Warriors host Hudson on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division II State Tournament.
No. 5 Marion Local (11-0)Marion Local beat Fort Recovery 68-0 last week in the first round of OHSAA Division VII State Tournament. The Flyers host Tri-Village on Friday in a second round matchup.
No. 6 Massillon Washington (8-2)Massillon Washington are the reigning Division II champs and have played a national schedule this fall. The Tigers host Canal Winchester on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division II State Tournament.
No. 7 (10-0)Avon beat North Olmstead 47-12 last week to remain undefeated. The Eagles host Olmstead Falls on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division II State Tournament.
No. 8 Lakota West (10-1)The Firebirds of Lakota West are year in and year out one of the premier programs in the state. This week Lakota West hosts No. 22 Cincinnati Elder on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 9 St. Xavier (8-3)St. Xavier, led by quarterback Chase Herbstreit, the son of Kirk Herbstreit, led the Bombers to in a 41-0 win over Milford last week. St. Xavier hosts No. 15 Winton Woods on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 10 Toledo Central Catholic (10-1)The reigning Division III state champs are riding an eight-game win streak. Central Catholic hosts Revere on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division III State Tournament.
No. 11 St. Edward (6-5)St. Edward has been the best team in Division I for the last three years, winning the state championship in three consecutive seasons. That hasn't been the case this season, however, as they have struggled with a national schedule. The Eagles host Toledo Whitmer in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 12 Bishop Watterson (11-0)Columbus Bishop Watterson made it all the way to the Division III state title game last season and wound up losing. The Eagles, who graduated over 20 seniors, have somehow gotten even better this season. They host Jackson on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division III State Tournament.
No. 13 Medina Highland (11-0)Highland handled its business in a 52-7 win over Fremont Ross last Friday. The Hornets host Toledo St. Francis DeSales on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division II State Tournament.
No. 14 (11-0)Mentor remained undefeated last Friday with a 31-7 win over Cleveland St. Ignatius. The Cardinals host Strongsville on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 15 Winton Woods (10-1)Winton Woods hosts one of three Massey Ratings Top-25 matchup of the week. The Warriors are set to take on No. 9 Cincinnati St. Xavier in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 16 (9-2)Princeton beat Fairfield 48-7 last week in the first round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament. The Vikings host Hamilton in the second round on Friday in another Top-25 matchup. The Big Blue were one of two teams to beat Princeton in the regular season.
No. 17 (10-1)Ironton almost scored 70 in a win over Worthington Christian last week. The Fighting Tigers host Portsmouth on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division V State Tournament.
No. 18 (10-1)All of the talk about high school football in Northeast Ohio usually goes toward the Cleveland area, but don't sleep on Youngstown either. Ursuline is an elite program. The Irish host Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph, whom they beat in the regular season, on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division III State Tournament.
No. 19 (11-0)Wapakoneta continued its undefeated season with a 48-7 win over Franklin last week. The Redskins host Wilmington on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division III State Tournament.
No. 20 Olentangy Liberty (9-2)Olentangy Liberty continues to climb in the Massey Ratings Top-25 with a win over Lancaster last week. The Patriots host Groveport Madison on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 21 Pickerington North (8-2)One of the powerhouse programs of Central Ohio, Pickerington North, beat Westerville North in the opening round of the State Tournament last week. The Panthers host crosstown rival Pickerington Central on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 22 (6-5)Elder is one of the most historic high school football programs in the state of Ohio but the Panthers received a tough draw in the State Tournament. The Panthers beat Mason 28-3 last week and now they travel to No. 8 Lakota West in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament.
No. 23 Anthony Wayne (11-0)Anthony Wayne remained undefeated with a win over Cleveland Rhodes last week. The Generals host Sandusky in the second round of OHSAA Division II State Tournament.
No. 24 Gahanna Lincoln (9-2)Gahanna Lincoln upset No. 21 Pickerington North in Week 10 and they carried that momentum into last week with 38-10 over Reynoldsburg in the first round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament. The Lions host Olentangy Berlin on Friday in the second round.
No. 25 (9-2)Another Top-25 matchup. Hamilton travels to No. 16 Princeton on Friday in the second round of OHSAA Division I State Tournament. The Big Blue beat the Vikings 34-0 in Week Six of the regular season.
