One arrested, others wanted accused in Ponchatoula home invasion

PONCHATOULA, La. ( WGNO ) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a man accused in an August home invasion in Ponchatoula.

Deputies said around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 25, they responded to a call of three masked men entering a home on Wood Avenue.

It was also reported that the group allegedly held all residents inside at gunpoint as they took money and other items.

Deputies say the suspects then left the home in a gray or white Nissan Altima.

Through investigation, deputies identified 23-year-old Tydarius Rico Andrews, as a suspect and issued an arrest warrant.

On Oct. 16, Andrews was arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on charges of home invasion, armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree rape, simple damage to property, identity theft and principle to aggravated battery.

The investigation into the crime remains ongoing. Detectives believed this was a targeted attack as they discovered Andrews had a connection to the family.
