Sep. 21—A driver is dead after his vehicle crashed into a tree in Francestown early Saturday morning, State Police said in a new release.

Nolan Trottier, 21, of Francestown, was pronounced dead at the scene where his Subaru crossover had left the roadway on Route 136 and hit a tree head-on around 4:15 a.m., police said. Trottier was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The crash had been reported by a passerby who could not render aid as the vehicle caught fire after the collision, officials said in the news release.
