One of two victims hospitalized after assault, home break-in in Hanover; suspects at large

A man and woman are injured after two suspects from Maryland allegedly assaulted them and broke into their Hanover home, according to police.

Late Thursday night, the Hanover Borough Police Department was dispatched to a home on the first block of Pleasant Street for a report of a burglary and physical assault.

Police say that through an investigation, they learned that a man and a woman from Maryland went to the home to meet a 25-year-old woman outside, where she was reportedly assaulted by the other woman. This caused the woman to retreat inside her home, police say.

The male suspect then allegedly entered the home and also physically assaulted her, and a 24-year-old man inside. Both suspects fled the scene, according to police.

The female victim in this case was transported to UPMC Hanover for treatment of her moderate injuries. The male victim suffered minor injuries and refused treatment.

Police said the investigation has resulted in the identification of the two suspects, one being a 47-year-old Maryland man, and the other being a 34-year-old Maryland woman. Further investigation revealed the suspects were known to the victims are that the incident was not a random act.
