Only 1 In 5 Americans Think Trump Will Try To Fulfil All Campaign Promises

One in five Americans believe the President-elect Donald Trump will try to fulfill all of his promises he made during his campaign, a new poll shows.

Following Trump's Election Day victory, focus has turned to what actions the 47th president will take when he takes office.

Main focuses of his campaign included the economy and immigration and throughout the White House run he pledged a number of actions he said he would carry out in his second term.

According to a YouGov survey conducted on Thursday, 21 percent of Americans said that they believe Trump will stick to his word on all the issues he said he would to to resolve as president.

More than a quarter of Americans said they believed Trump would implement most of the policies he proposed during his campaign, while 9 percent said they didn't think he would fulfill any of his promises.

The poll surveyed 4,245 Americans online, allowing the respondents to take the poll on a phone, tablet, or computer whenever they chose to do so.

The survey showed that more men believed Trump would try to either implement all or most of his policies, while more women believed he wouldn't try to fulfill any of his promises.

Based on Election Day voting data , Trump had the support of a large proportion of America's male voters, with a 6-percentage-point lead over Harris among men aged 45 or over, and a 6-point lead among men aged between 18 to 45.

Overall, Trump's supporters were mostly 45 or older, with 62 percent in that age range . That same demographic was also the age group that more widely believed Trump would try and implement all of his policies, at 55 percent.

The survey also showed that Republicans largely believed the former president would try to fulfill most or all of his campaign policies, at 73 percent.

Around one in five Democrats believed Trump would try to implement some of his policies, but over a third thought he would only attempt to fulfill a few or none of his proposals during his campaign.

Fifty-two percent of white voters said they thought the president-elect would try to implement most or all of his campaign promises. Forty-six percent of Hispanic respondents said the same and 37 percent of Black survey takers agreed.
