The second Open Streets festival of the year arrives this weekend.

Open Streets West Broadway takes place on Saturday, Sept. 21, the first installment of the long-running celebration that will be organized by the West Broadway Business and Area Coalition .

The festival shuts down 17 blocks of Broadway for a family-friendly celebration of the community featuring local vendors, restaurants, pop-up shops, entertainment, and more.

Organizers say there will be more than 250 vendors involved this year with the expectation of bringing in more than 3,000 guests.

Open Streets had previously been hosted by Our Streets Minneapolis since 2011. Its partnership with the city came to a controversial end last year when the organization's request for funds was denied. Subsequently, the city sought out neighborhood associations to take over Open Streets events, each with a $50,000 budget. It had initially hoped to have five in 2024, but only three were scheduled.

Open Streets West Broadway is the second of the three installments, with Open Street Nicollet on Sept. 28 being the final one.
