Oregon maximum rent increase for 2025 set at 10%

SALEM, Ore. (KPTV) - Landlords will be allowed to increase rent by at least 10% in 2025, the Oregon Department of Administrative Services (DAS) announced on Monday.

DAS says the allowable rent increase percentage for the 2025 calendar year is 10%. The cap applies to rental units that are 15 years and older.

The cap on rent increase has held between 9% and 10% since 2019, except for in 2023. From January to July of that year, the maximum was set at about 15%. It was forced up then due to inflation, which was a result of landlords not being able to raise rent during the pandemic.

That same year, Governor Tina Kotek signed a bill into law which set a state mandated limit of 10% for rent increases.

Though the cap on rent increases has hovered around 10% since 2019, because of inflation and everything being more expensive, it's safe to say many renters will be hoping their landlords will not seek the maximum increase come next year.
