OUI Crash Leads To Drug Dealing Charge In Merrimack Thomas Bemis faces felony falsifying physical evidence, other charges after a crash Thursday night at Bedford Road and DW Highway.

MERRIMACK, NH — A man from Merrimack was arrested on multiple charges after a crash near Bedford Road and the Daniel Webster Highway on Thursday night.

Around 8 p.m., police were sent to the two-vehicle crash with injuries. One of the drivers, Thomas Bemis, 35, of Merrimack, was accused him of showing "signs of impairment," according to a police statement on Facebook. After field sobriety tests, he was arrested.

"During the course of the investigation," a report stated , "officers also located a large quantity of a controlled drug located near the vehicle in which Bemis was operating."

Bemis was arrested on operating under the influence-liquor as well as possession of a controlled drug with intent to sell and falsifying physical evidence charges, both felonies, and an open container violation. He was taken to police headquarters, process, and released on personal recognizance. Bemis is due in Merrimack District Court on Oct. 8.

Bemis, according to superior court records, was brought up on acts prohibited charges in March 2017, after an incident in Manchester. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor acts prohibited charge in August of that year, receiving a 12-month sentence and a $434 fine, all suspended for two years. He pleaded guilty to a violation of probation or parole charge in May 2018 and was sentenced to 12 months in jail, 173 days time served, and stand committed.

Three months later, he was arrested in Manchester again on driving under the influence, felony possession of controlled drug -subsequent, and reckless operation. A year later, he pleaded guilty to the reckless operation charge and was fined $620.

In March 2019, Bemis was arrested again on driving under the influence and controlled premises where drugs kept charge in Gilford . About two years later, he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge, a misdemeanor acts prohibited charge, and received another 12-month suspended sentence and a $620 fine. Bemis' license was also revoked for nine months.

In September 2022 , Bemis was involved in a UTV crash in Milford.
