Over 100 EPISD students earned positions in Borderland’s Region 22 Orchestra

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – A total of 119 El Paso Independent School District students earned coveted positions in the High School All Region Orchestra for the Borderland's Region 22, the district announced on Wednesday, Oct. 16 in a news release.

"This remarkable achievement highlights the district's commitment to fostering musical excellence and stands as a testament to the dedication of its talented students and instructors," read the news release.

El Paso ISD said it represented more than double the number of participants from neighboring school districts.

"This is an incredible accomplishment for our students and a reflection of the dedication of our fine arts educators," Phillip Barraza, El Paso ISD's executive director of Fine Arts said. "The talent we have in El Paso ISD is second to none, and I couldn't be prouder of how our students continue to excel in music and leadership on and off the stage."

The Region 22 Orchestra is known for its "high standards and offers students the opportunity to perform alongside the most talented young musicians in the area."

"The audition process is highly competitive, and El Paso ISD's strong presence speaks volumes about the quality of its music programs and the dedication of both students and teachers," read the news release.
