Packers Week 5 Winners and Losers vs. the Rams

B.Wilson27 min ago
After a disappointing loss last week to the division-rival Minnesota Vikings , the Green Bay Packers looked to bounce back this Sunday against the struggling Los Angeles Rams , who have never beaten a Matt LaFleur-coached team. Bounce back, they did! The 24-19 win was an ugly one, but ugly wins are still wins, and the team sits at 3-2 after five weeks of football. Whose play stuck out the most today? Let's dive into it.

Winner: Tucker Kraft I think it's safe to say Tucker Kraft is the best TE on the roster. There was a ton of hype around fellow-TE Luke Musgrave last year, but after he went down with a lacerated kidney, Kraft stepped up and never looked back. Today, the third-round curse-breaker led the team in receiving yards with 88 and had two scores in two straight drives. He also had the Packers' longest TD reception by a TE since 2012 (Tom Crabtree). Kraft has become a favorite of Jordan Love's and has shown to be one of those guys who does everything he can to extend the play.

Loser: Pass Rush Aside from a few clutch plays by Karl Brooks, Edgerrin Cooper, and half of Preston Smith, the Packers' pass rush was non-existent today. Matthew Stafford had all day to throw the ball, and ended up making his targets like WR Jordan Whittington look like studs. In all, the Packers combined for 3 sacks, and Rashan Gary was nowhere to be found. Against a bottom-tier team like the Rams, more was expected from this group today.

Winner: Xavier McKinney The contract has paid for itself. For the fifth straight game (sixth straight if you add in his final game with the Giants), Xavier McKinney came away with an interception. The stud safety nearly had a second pick today, but was half a second behind the ball and missed it. He also recovered a fumble caused by JJ Enagbare. At this point, takeaways aren't a matter of if; they're a matter of when. 5 picks and a fumble recovery in 5 games, and just like that, the Packers have a safety putting together an All-Pro season. What a journey it's been.

Loser (but a fun one!): Jordan Love Having a gunslinger at quarterback is fun, but also horrific. High risk sometimes leads to high reward, like Love's dangerous throw to Jayden Reed in triple coverage which led to a score the next play. This wasn't a smart throw, but thanks to Reed's incredible hands (on this play at least) it paid off.

Love's decision-making also leads to costly turnovers, like his first-ever pick-six as he tried to avoid a safety. The QB is a lot of fun to watch, but during games like this, you need to cover your eyes to shield yourself from the horrors. Can't wait to watch him next week! Love finished the day 15/26 for 224 yards, 2 TDs, and a pick, which is good enough for a 95.7 rating.

Winner: Brayden Narveson We've officially hit the point in the season where we're celebrating 46-yard field goals like they're playoff wins. And you know what? I'LL TAKE IT. Narveson bounced back this week and made all of his kicks (1 FG, 3XP). Let's keep it rolling.

Loser: Dontayvion Wicks' hands which have clearly been cursed by a witch Dontayvion. Please.
