A.Williams3 days ago

LOS ANGELES – Two San Fernando Valley high schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday after receiving a threat that raised concerns about safety, police said.

Sky5 was over the scene at Birmingham Community Charter High School in Van Nuys shortly before 11 a.m., where officers responded to investigate the threat made by an unknown individual. The second school on lockdown is High Tech Los Angeles Charter High School in Lake Balboa.

The nature of the threat was not disclosed.

Neither school is affiliated with the Los Angeles Unified School District, but LAUSD officers responded with the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Both schools were placed on lockdown, and officers are actively searching the campuses out of an abundance of caution," the Los Angeles Unified School District Police said in a statement.

No evacuations have been ordered, and parents were urged to remain away from the campus during the investigation.
