Koror, Palau — The Republic of Palau Social Security Administration (ROPSSA) is set to commence its Amnesty Program this October 2024, running through April 2025. This initiative is part of a broader effort to assist Palauan citizens who have reached retirement age but do not qualify for Social Security benefits due to insufficient working quarters.

In a letter dated Sept. 30, 2024, addressed to Hon. Rukebai Kikuo Inabo, chairperson of the Committee on Ways and Means and Financial Matters, the ROPSSA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all eligible Palauan citizens can access Social Security benefits. Developed under the direction of the Board of Trustees, the Amnesty Program aims to address gaps in benefit eligibility by allowing individuals to resolve issues related to their working quarters.

The letter, signed by ROPSSA official Hefflin Bai, states that "the initiative will provide crucial aid to our community during this challenging period." Issued in celebration of Palau's upcoming 30th Independence Day, the program seeks to support senior citizens and individuals with disabilities who have faced challenges in securing benefits. This initiative ensures that all eligible Palauans have access to Social Security benefits, including retirement and disability
