While the Almond Bowl features crosstown rivals Chico and Pleasant Valley High School facing off at Panther Stadium, other area teams square off Friday night in Butte View League, Mid-Valley League and Sacramento Valley League action.

In SVL action, Paradise (1-5, 0-2 SVL) looks to snap a three-game losing streak when it hosts Colusa (1-6, 0-3 SVL). The Warriors are looking to snap a four-game losing streak of their own. However Friday night will not just be about the game for the Bobcats, as they look to rally the community and rise on the leaderboard of the T-Mobile Friday Night Lights stadium renovation competition.

The Bobcats were chosen as one of 16 finalists from 1,700-plus entries across the United States. One winner, chosen by voters, will receive a $100,000 high school grant, an upgraded weight room from GronkFitness.com , a new etched-out scoreboard, professional consultation with football field experts to elevate the game, a 5G network upgrades package to unlock player potential and performance and an epic tailgate party celebration with live music and a 5G-powered halftime drone show.

"The 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, California's deadliest wildfire and the world's most expensive natural disaster, claimed 86 lives and displaced countless families," Paradise High'd video post states. "Paradise High School's football team, leading the season before the fire, had to end their season. A year later, the team rallied for an unforgettable victory, bringing hundreds of community members, families and students back home to witness resilience, strength, and pride at its best. Paradise High remains a cherished symbol for generations. Help us restore Paradise to 'All its Name Implies' by putting the last piece of the puzzle in place - Thank you for your vote!"

The Bobcats were in second place Wednesday, trailing Hughson High School 62,701-54,751, and ahead of third place Crest Ridge High School 54,751-30,541. To place a vote for Paradise High School, visit the school's Instagram and like the post at this post on Instagram

Orland (4-2, 1-0 BVL) and Las Plumas (4-2, 1-0) face off at 7:30 p.m. at Harrison Stadium in Oroville. The Trojans and Cardinals are tied with Corning (2-4, 1-0 BVL) atop the BVL standings, but entering Friday the Trojans enter with a more difficult strength in schedule than the Thunderbirds. Both the Cardinals and Thunderbirds are coming off wins.

Corning will host BVL opponent Live Oak (2-4, 0-1) at 7:30 p.m., as the Cardinals look to win their second straight and remain tied for the BVL lead. The Cardinals beat Oroville 36-0 last week, rushing for 422 yards and adding a safety on defense.

In other BVL action, Gridley (3-3, 0-1 BVL) hosts Oroville (0-6, 0-1 BVL) at 7:30 p.m. Both teams will look to get their first league victory, while the Tigers look for their first win of the season.

Mid-Valley League

In MVL action, Hamilton (6-1, 3-0 MVL) looks to win its seventh straight game when the Braves host Williams (2-4, 0-2 MVL) at 7 p.m. in Hamilton City. The Braves lost their season opener at Walnut Creek-based Berean Christian, but have gone on to win their last six games including league wins against Quincy, Portola and Los Molinos. The Yellowjacks won their first two games against Willows and Mt. Shasta, but have lost their last four to Colusa, Pierce, Los Molinos and Portola.

Also in MVL action, Biggs (4-2, 2-0 MVL) looks to bounce back from last week's 43-0 loss to non-league opponent Eureka, when the Wolverines host Portola (1-4, 1-2 MVL) at 7:30 p.m. in Biggs. The Wolverines opened MVL play with wins against Maxwell and Quincy before falling to Eureka. The Tigers opened MVL play with a 21-14 win against Williams, snapping a five game losing skid.

Durham was scheduled to host Willows in SVL play, but Northern Section commissioner Scott Johnson and Willows Athletic Director Bob Rawles confirmed the Honkers have forfeited the remainder of their season due to a shortage of players.

"The shortage has occurred due to injuries, disciplinary suspensions (team rules-related), and athletes stepping away for personal reasons," Rawles said in an email.

With the forfeit victory, the Trojans improve to 6-2 and 3-1 in SVL play.
