Paris Olympics Dream Crushed, Skye Blakely Rejuvenates Gymnastics Community With Favorite Skill: “Can’t Wait to Get Back”

You're not down until you're down- that echoes in Skye Blakely's spirit at the moment. June 26 put a full stop on her Paris Olympics dream. On that day, her Achilles did not support her fully in her pre-US Olympics trials training and faced a hitch. As a result, the 19-year-old left the Target Center in Minnesota with a grieving face, suffering from the excruciating pain of losing strength and dream altogether.

But she is not ready yet to give up on her thought of coming back soon. A glimpse of that unbowed resilience made a place on her social media as Skye Blakely shared a snippet of her training session before moving into the trials.

The six-second strong snippet shows Skye pulling off the vault schedule, cheng with the known poise. Furthermore, the caption of the post describes a lot deeper as it says, "cheng from before trials. this ended up being one of my favorite skills, can't wait to get back and some." Notably, the vault schedule, cheng is termed to be one of the hardest gymnastic routines in the book.

Introduced by Chinese gymnast Cheng Fei in 2005, the routine needs to complete a round-off onto the vault table and push off into a laid-out salto with one and a half twists. Because of its difficulty, cheng comes with an extra D-score as per the rules. Another part is Skye Blakley's teammate in Florida Gators, Leanne Wong often earns the title of one of the best cheng performers in current grain. However, Skye does not have more to lose as her movement poses nothing less compared to Wong's. But to create that magic again, she needs to keep a few things in mind.

The cheng routine finds an increased D-score because of putting extreme pressure on the knee and ankle, basically the lower leg portion. In the current scenario, Skye Blakely is suffering from a right leg Achilles tear. And ironically, it has been her Achilles' heel in recent years. So, her fans want her to come back on the mat after treating the injury entirely. Her X-post found several comments of such a nature.

The 'gymternet fav' Skye Blakely earns motivational words Spending a lot of years in gymnastics, Kathy Johnson Clarke knows a few things about the athletes' prospects and, notably, she felt Skye Blakely was one of the favorites to enter the final five in the US Olympic team. However, the injury made Skye thinning away from that list. Yet, Kathy is sure about Skye's return. While clearing the air on that note, she commented, "We can wait, Skye! It'll be even better & sweeter when you can show this off again!... Godspeed on recovery! I'm sorry about what happened but you are handling it with an enormous amount of grace. wishing you speedy recovery!"

Dominique Moceanu, the youngest gymnast in US Olympic history couldn't agree more with Kathy's comment. Rather, she argued, "...and it'll be better than ever!" However, her snippet from her pre-trial schedule definitely increased fans' urge to witness her doing the same again.

Expressing that mood, one fan added, "Your's is a gymternet fav!! I love how you delay the twisting, so flashy and aesthetically pleasing. And your chest position!! Rooting for you in whatever you do in the future". A similar mood echoed in another statement that conceded, "Love that you did that Cheng. I hope there will be zero problems doing it again after you heal!" That proves the gymnastic greatness the Dallas native has earned throughout the years. Meanwhile, a famous name in sports journalism added the missing piece to the comment.
