PEC Run With Me 5K To Benefit Individuals With Disabilities In Bernards Township This year's Bernards Parents for Exceptional Children's race proceeds will support renovating a Our House's newly purchased 5th residence.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Parents for Exceptional Children (PEC) is reviving its annual Run with Me 5K race and PEC family walk.

The race will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Bernards Township Municipal Complex in Basking Ridge.

This year's PEC Run With Me 5K race proceeds will financially support renovating Our House's newly purchased fifth residence in Bernards Township.

PEC is a vital community organization that fosters connections, raises awareness and provides tangible support to schools and students. Our House Inc. is a local nonprofit with a similar mission to help individuals with disabilities reach their full potential.

"While Bernards Parents for Exceptional Children supports special needs students and their families throughout their schooling years, Our House assists postgraduate individuals, and picks up where PEC leaves off," according to PEC. "Our House, Inc. was created to provide inclusive and stimulating environments for individuals with disabilities through community residences, employment services, innovative day programs, social opportunities and various support services."

Over the past 40 years, Our House's residential services have expanded to include 16 group homes, three sets of supervised apartments, and five supported living apartments. Additionally, OHI operates 4-Day Program sites and collaborates with various supported employment partners.

They currently support around 300 individuals across Essex, Morris, Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties, with five of the houses located in the Bernards Township area. Learn more about Our House's Residential Program here .

- Check In and warm up prior to the race at the Bernards Twp Municipal Complex at 1 Collyer Lane.

A shorter walk for PEC families along the 5K course, starting at the bottom of Collyer Lane down South Maple and back.

Medals for all of the following: 1st place Male and Female in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 50-69, 70 -79, 80 and up

Location & Parking:

Park at Ridge High School (268 S Finley Ave, Bernards Twp) and walk across Aster Field to the Bernards Twp Municipal Complex at 1 Collyer Lane to the check in tent.
