Pedestrian from Connecticut killed after being struck by car in Maine

PORTLAND, Maine (WTNH) — A Connecticut woman was killed when she was struck by a car while crossing the street in Portland, Maine, police said.

Cynthia Karst, 66, of Ridgefield was crossing Franklin Street at the intersection of Congress Street when she was hit by a car, police said.

A 36-year-old from Portland was driving the car, according to police.

Karst was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said no charges have been filed at this time.

The accident reconstruction team was called to the scene to investigate.
