Pedestrian hit by truck in Otay Mesa dies
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in the South Bay Thursday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The incident occurred in the 2300 block of Avenida Costa Este in the Otay Mesa community shortly before 5 p.m., authorities said.

A 58-year-old man was crossing from west to east in an unmarked crosswalk on the south end of Avenida Costa Este and Avenida De La Fuente, police explained. At that same time, a 38-year-old man was driving a 2019 Toyota Tacoma westbound on the 8700 block Avenida De La Fuente.
The driver then approached the intersection of Avenida De La Fuente and Avenida Costa Este. Police said he turned left onto southbound Avenida Costa Este and struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic Division officers responded and are investigating the collision. Police said DUI is not considered a factor in this crash.
