Police say Cambridge man died after neck 'compression'

A 38-year-old man who died after being found with serious injuries suffered "compression of the neck", police have said. Cambridgeshire Police said Neil Lakhani died at a property in Histon Road, Cambridge, on 17 September, after officers were called to "reports of violence". They said post-mortem tests had shown that Mr Lakhani died as a result of compression of the neck. A 23-year-old man has been charged with Mr Lakhani's murder. "Neil Lakhani, 38, died at a property in Histon Road, after police were called with reports of violence at 11.39am," said police in a statement. "Mr Lakhani, of Histon Road, was treated by paramedics but died at 12.15pm. Police said "initial" post-mortem findings "concluded" that Mr Lakhani died "as a result of compression of the neck". They said "further forensic tests" were required.
