Pedestrian Walking On Shoulder Dies In Manassas Area Crash: Police

Prince William County Police had responded around 4:18 p.m. Monday to the 10100 block of Lake Jackson Drive, which is south of Manassas city limits. Police say a 2021 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van heading east on Lake Jackson Drive hit the pedestrian. The pedestrian was walking on the shoulder, as there was no sidewalk at the crash location.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and died of his injuries later that evening. He was identified as Gary Paul Wilson, 90, of Manassas.
The driver of the striking vehicle, a 68-year-old man from Manassas, remained on scene and was not injured.
Police do not believe speed was a factor in the crash. Charges are pending as police continue to investigate.
